Change Happens to Everyone

Congratulations. You're special - you and you alone are going through change.

Or at least that's how it feels when you're in the midst of it.

Why me? Why now? How unfair!

Really the questions should be: Why not you? Why not now? And who promised life would be fair anyway?

The fact that I'm not special nor are my circumstances particularly unique is a hard reality that I've had to face over the past few years.

What I've realized is that we all suffer from the disease of me-itis, the primary symptom being life myopia.

What's life myopia? It's the inability to see the big picture. We can't see what the results of our current circumstances will be in the long term.

And that's what makes change so stressful.

It's also what makes change so normal.
