Typical Bad Math

I am the only person I know that can make a 9 mile loop around the lake take 11.58 miles.

Blerg.

We went to White Rock Lake, our favorite in-Dallas long-run spot, yesterday morning to get in a 22 mile training run. We've done this many many times. As well, we've started super early (5 am) many many times.

So what's the problem? The lake trail is undergoing a bit of maintenance. What I didn't expect was that running in The Zone, the dark and the fog would cause me to miss the detour and get completely lost.

Completely and totally lost at 6:15 am, by myself at the lake.

Bummer.

Running extra really wasn't a problem - but what was a problem was that I planned to meet up with friends at 7 am to run my second loop. Thankfully they waited for me, because by the time I realized that I was lost, found my way back to the trail and raced to our meeting point, I'd gone more than 2.5 miles extra.

Sigh.

But the girls waited (yay!) and, in the daylight, we successfully managed a 9 mile loop of the lake. Then I just had to tack on another mile-plus and I was done.

(Really really done for the day!)

All's well that ends well.
