The mutt wasn’t interested in me, instead loving on Kelly and demanding frequent ear rubs. He accompanied us for most of our walk – marking territory and, much to Kelly’s dismay, rolling head-first in cow droppings.
We finally had to shoo our uninvited friend home as we approached our cabin so there wouldn’t be a conflict between the pooch and the cabin owner’s two dogs.
The day was another day of lazing about – Phase 10, Scrabble, sunbathing, napping and watching the Open.
We also spend quite a bit of time enjoying a hilarious bottle opener we’ve found in one of the kitchen drawers.
The four of us take a leisurely afternoon canoe trip, John and Kelly in one canoe, Stacie and I in the other.
The current is barely a trickle, so it’s easy-going.
Stacie and I have a bit of a splash war. I tell her these sorts of things wouldn’t happen if she didn’t sass the person steering the canoe.
We wind another evening down with a round of Phase 10 and the hot tub. I love staring at the fireflies…our mosquito control measures at home keep away most of the local firefly population.Cabins up and down the river say goodnight with individual fireworks shows, providing a symphony of bangs and whizzes that nearly match the cicadas and frogs in volume.
