It's a Great Day - or at Least a Better Day

It doesn't take much to be a better day than last Friday, when:

1. I had neglected to look at the mail stack for a few days...only to have The Boy discover a jury summons. (Fortunately, my day to appear is December 15th!)

2. I knew I took my building access card out of my wallet before leaving the house so it would be accessible when I needed it. I didn't want to rummage at the last minute...in the rain. However, when I stopped to drop The Boy at his office, I realized that my access card was nowhere to be found. After digging through the car, I got out...in the rain...and discovered that I had set my access card on top of the car! Thank goodness the rain held the card onto the roof during the 10-mile drive to the office.

3. Multitasking at lunch - I ran to pick up The Boy's half marathon bib (by the way, he finished 551st out of over 3000 runners!). The rain had finally stopped, so I reached into the console to grab my sunglasses. Only my sunglasses were broken!! When (and how?) did this happen??

Now Monday has arrived. Surely today will be a better day! The sun is shining (hopefully all week), I am rested and there's small comfort in knowing that things would have to be much worse to beat Friday's drama!

  1. Hmm...interesting Friday you had but I can tell you I know someone who received their FIRST ever Jury Summons when they were nearly 90 yrs. old, after living in the same place for almost 65 years. Requesting they come to the court house at 8 AM, on a Monday morning, driving thru the going-to-work traffic. And plan to do so for the next ten days.

I can also tell you I know someone who left his paycheck on the roof of HIS car and drove to the bank in the rain - before noticing there was no check or deposit slip laying on the car seat where he was sure he'd left it.

    Life isn't simple, is it.

  2. Is it better to leave an access card on the roof of a car than a pair of shoes?

  3. Speaking as a party in the know, I would say an access card is more easily replaced than a favorite pair of shoes.

Now the other set of comments...I feel the need to hear some stories at Christmas!!!
