I Am Not House

My new favorite doctor - and believe me, I'm developing a collection of doctors - is my orthopedic specialist, Dr. Frazier. In addition to telling me that it's ok to feel depressed about the Very Bad Back, he also gave me a veritable collection of drugs to make it better.

I'm not really excited about the pills. I'm not much of a pill-person in general. But they're helping. And that's a good thing.

I have steroids to reduce inflammation and muscle relaxers to calm tense things down. And I have a handy prescription for Vicodin to battle the pain.

The latter prescription made me a little nervous.

We watch House, you see, and I know several real-life folks who, like the good Dr. House, have developed a certain fondness dependence upon it.

But here's what I've learned: I don't like Vicodin.

Vicodin makes my head spin. An achy-sinus-rattling-rode-too-many-roller-coasters-type of feeling. A spinning head gives me a stomach ache. It's altogether not nice.

So I'm locking away the Vicodin, saving it for either a bout of excruciating pain or for a way to earn a quick buck on the side. (I'm JUST kidding!!)

  1. I'm with you on the Vicodin--I don't know how anyone can get addicted to it.
