*Yawn*

We enjoyed a quick getaway (emphasis on quick) to visit friends this weekend.

Although we were only there for just over 24 hours, I noticed something interesting: I sleep really well there.

That got me to thinking - when I'm at my parents house, I sleep really well, too. In fact, I sleep really well at most any house where I'm a guest.

This comes as a bit of a surprise to me, because I sleep notoriously badly in hotels. I'm lucky if I can get a few hours of fitful sleep. I've always blamed it on sleeping in a strange bed.

So what is it about sleeping in a strange bed in a hotel versus sleeping in a strange bed in a friend's (or family member's) house?

Is this true for you as well?

  1. I suspect the difference is the fact you're surrounded by family or friends versus the other times you don't know "who" all the others are in the building. It's a subconscious thing perhaps.

  2. I hadn't thought of this! Makes perfect sense.

  3. I also have NO problem crashing at parent's house. However, I don't sleep well at friend's places or hotels. However, I think the friend's houses is more to do with the fact that we are up WAY too late chatting!
