I have an announcement to make.
{Ahem.}
The desk rehab project that I
started two and a half months ago is done. That's right, I've finally stopped stripping, priming and painting. I've even moved the desk from its temporary home in the breakfast room back into the library where it belongs.
Finally, eh?
When we last saw my gorgeous old lady, she was primed and ready for a fresh, clean coat:
|
Yeah - that was nearly a month ago. |
I painted her with two coats of
Glidden's Antique White, distressed the decorative moulding and gave the top two protective coats of
Miniwax's Wipe-On Poly.
{By the way, now that I've used wipe-on poly, I'm never going back to using the a brush-on again! Sooooo much easier!}

Look at that beautiful detail! |
Before I put the desk back together, I added some drawer liner paper. I found some beautiful 12x12 scrapbook paper on sale at
Hobby Lobby. I thought it's color and pattern was the perfect fit for my antique desk. Very fancy. I used
Mod Podge to glue the liner down for a permanent (and wipe-able) finish.

Hubba-hubba! Isn't that gorgeous?!? |
And there she is - happy as can be in her new home in the library.

Office set up |
And just a reminder of where we started, this is how she looked when we collected her earlier this year:
|
Poor neglected desk. |
Ah - she's a beauty!!
|
Much better. |
Next step: organizing and decorating our mini-office!
