Three years ago, a colleague gave me an African Violet for Christmas.
In the meantime, I've faithfully watered my African Violet, repotted it and stripped dead leaves. I've cared for it like no other plant I've owned. All for no reward whatsoever, other than bright green leaves.
That's right, for three years my African Violet has refused to bloom.
Imagine my surprise this week when I spotted this:
That's right - it's blooming!!!
Honestly, I'd forgotten what color its blooms were. I suppose my African Violet is a little like me: it will do what it wants to do when it darn well wants to do it. And in the meantime, it expects a lot of coddling.
*** Ahem...post corrected to reflect that this is an AFRICAN VIOLET, not an orchid. Yes, that's how long ago I received this plant. I didn't even remember what it was!!!***
Your plant looks an awful like an African Violet.
ReplyDeleteThat cracks me up. I've edited my post. Evidence of the following:
ReplyDelete1) I'm very tired,
2) This plant hasn't bloomed in forever, so I didn't even rememember what it was, and
3) I have a brown thumb. Hopeless at plant identification!!!
A little bit like you? You mean stubborn, right?
ReplyDeleteHe's so funny.
ReplyDeleteKnows what she wants. Is it her fault you have to guess what that might be?
ReplyDeleteShe's so funny, too.
