Here I am in Atlanta, working for most of the day (and night) for a few days. And I've noticed something interesting: There's nothing on tv.
The Boy and I don't watch a lot of traditional television. If we're home, our fare is usually catching up on DVR shows long after the original broadcast date, sports events (duh!) and movies on Netflix. Lately, tv watching has been nearly 100% basketball.
No surprise there, right?
But here's the thing - basketball is over and I'm in a hotel room that's overly quiet. I can't find a single show to watch. From angry talking heads on "news" stations to detailed observations on some court case I know little about to reruns of tv shows that I've never seen, I'm spending more time flipping than I am landing on anything to watch.
Pathetic.
Not that I can't find something to watch, but that tv can have so many channels and nothing worthwhile to watch.
Perhaps this is a sign I should call it quits for the evening and catch up on my sleep instead.
There's always the FOOD Channel. Or HGTV .. they're always remodeling, building, changing homes (in case you run out of ideas).
ReplyDeleteI tried to give up cable but Time Warner actually made it cheaper for me to keep it because I can't get rid of the Internet. It was either $45 for Internet or $40 for Internet and basic (only local channels) cable. I usually watch documentaries on Netflix anyway. Nothing screams "Super Cool" like watching documentaries on a Saturday night.
ReplyDelete@nita - I wish my channel selection was better here. :(
ReplyDelete@julie - it's a Godfather moment. "Everytime I think I'm out, they pull me back in."
