It's hard to feel churlish about a rainy day when you're living through the fourth year of drought.
Despite the thunder and lightening that wakes you up in the wee hours of the morning, despite the longer than normal commute, even despite the humidity-wrecked hair, you know the rain is a blessing.
It makes me think of the many times I've had "personal" rain in my life and not looked at it as a blessing. Problems, difficulties and frustrations overshadow the good things that come through an experience I didn't seek out.
Perspective is a powerful thing. I only wish I had more of it in the present rather than relying on hindsight.
