I really love Spiral Diner! I've only eaten (several times) at the Fort Worth location, but haven't had a chance to try the Oak Cliff stalwart.
We were down in Bishop Arts for the evening with Stacie who I'd promised forever to go to Spiral Diner (because she must eat dairy free, Spiral Diner is a rare place where she can have anything she wants on the menu without having to ask for changes), so it was the perfect time to go.
You see, Spiral Diner is a vegan restaurant but they make everything. It's a very happy hippy place with very happy yummy food.
Stacie had a "Parmesan" wrap and pasta salad - a winner all around. Especially the pasta salad. We all wished we'd ordered that.
John had the "Ate" layer burrito (which was actually only 7 layers because they didn't have any faux sour cream) and the pasta salad - still tasty.
Kelly had the nachos supreme and loved them - it was actually too much food. (Cheddar cheese sauce was actually spiced cashew "cheese" sauce and the meat was subbed nicely with spicy quinoa.
I had the Big Kahuna burger with a portabella patty and cole slaw. Everyone helped me eat it and thought it was the winner dish of the evening (nachos took a close 2nd place).
Stacie and John also had the blueberry pie and ice cream (soy milk). The crust was cookie-style and very buttery good. None of us preferred the style of the blueberry filling - a little too much cinnamon for our tastes.
All in all, it was a great experience and my group was glad we made the stop. We left with full happy bellies and no feelings of deprivation. Plus we were able to fulfill a long-ago made promise.
