All but 1 of the 5 people walking in with me were carrying sack lunches. Old hat for Kelly and I, big change for many others.
Why I think everyone should consider brown bagging as often as possible:
- It's cheaper
- It's often lower-calorie
- It's less stressful than driving out to eat, waiting in line and driving back...all in an hour
- And did I mention it was cheaper?
And it can be healthier, if you're taking leftovers from your healthy home-cooked meals.
ReplyDeleteIt's cheaper...not only in cost of food but also in fuel saved.
ReplyDeleteCorrect on all accounts!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think that it can be fun to find creative ways to reuse leftovers from too-large restaurant meals.
* Fajita meat chopped for a breakfast taco
* Fish entrees sliced and served over pasta
* Salads mixed with new ingredients
* Sushi...wait. I never have leftovers with sushi! :)
Besides, if you don't take your lunch to school (work), you can't use your cool new pink lunch box with the silver glitter spelling lunch and your cute new pink sandwich box with a couple hearts on it. LOL. Adella likes being able to chose her food and I like the fact that I KNOW what she is eating. Breakfast is a totally different story. Let her eat that at school
ReplyDeleteSack lunch? Never knew anything different in grade school and thru most of high school. Not only did we take our lunch, we saved the paper bag for the next day's use. One bag lasted the week if we were careful. Fried egg sandwich with mustard on homemade bread was my favorite lunch. "Fried" in butter that is! Probably wasn't healthy, but it was good.
