Instead of tossing them out, or going through the effort of selling them on Craigslist, I followed my sister's lead and gave them away using Freecycle.
Within minutes of posting our light shades, we had multiple requests to pick them up. Altogether, it was a very simple process.
I set the light shades in a bag outside our front door. By the next morning, they'd been collected. However, it wasn't until we went outside to collect the mail that we were able to see the thank you note left for us by the collector:
Somehow, it's just reminded me of Jeff Engvall's Here's Your Sign routine.
I mean, really, what ever happened to just sticking a note on the door?
A note written on a piece of paper might not be recycled.
ReplyDeleteokay ... ummmmm ... that is the wierdest thing I have ever seen. Why? hmmmmmmmm. I love freecycle though. lol

ReplyDeleteSo, in an effort to not recycle, they make me use precious water resources.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, strange.
I used FreeCycle a lot when we moved to our apartment. Biggest problem I found was when people said they'd come pick up an item and never show up.
ReplyDeleteI'm with John - a note on paper would require resources. This way, you want for the rain to wash it off. And, isn't chalk non-toxic to the environment? It's a win-win!
ReplyDeleteAh, but the rain doesn't reach this part of the covered porch!
ReplyDeleteI've had good luck so far with Freecylce. However, I've had folks no-show for Craigslist items. That's frustrating.
