Kitty of Christmas Past

Flashback to Christmas 2004...

We only had one kitty, our little girl - who was truly a little girl then. We'd adopted Bridget from a British Cat Rescue Society and she was a real handful. Full of spunk and naughtiness, she was unafraid and into everything.

And when I say unafraid, I mean that:
  • She tried to steal food off our plates, while we were eating.
  • She successfully stole a frozen corndog off of a baking sheet and hid under the couch to nibble on it.
  • She escaped from a friend's house and spent the entirety of our Scottish vacation living on a nearby shed roof.
  • She pushed open a window and spent the night watching the neighborhood from the safety of our front yard bushes.
  • She ran headlong into the kitchen bay window in an effort to catch a bird.
I could go on.

But the one thing that, bizarrely, calmed the Boo down was Christmas. She loves the lighted tree and can sit amongst the presents for hours. She knows how to lie next to Christmas decorations for maximum impact.

And she knows how to sort through the presents to find the one that's hers:

She also knows how to carefully open her presents to get to the goodies inside. I also like that she's effusive with her expressions of present love:

Are you wondering what she got? Amidst the bags of treats and catnip, she received Mickey the string toy! True love...

I wonder what the furbabies will get for Christmas this year? Rumor has it that Evil Santa wants to give them clothes.
I'm quite sure that Mama will work to make sure that doesn't happen!!

  1. SO cute - I used to have a dog growing up that was so mild mannered and she would behave this way on Christmas. She'd carefully open her gifts and get them out and just fall in love! AH memories!

  2. Furbabies have a way of getting you right in the heart, don't they? My husband is trying to convince me that we need to add a dog to our crazy household...I think if I could have one as sweet as yours was, I'd be sold!!

Thanks for reading. (Your blog is fun!)
