I got to stay behind and sort the details of paint colors and contractor punch lists. Fun stuff. (Really...it was fun!)
Anyway, going with The Boy to X Country has been one of my desires - long before I ever put it on my 101 List.
But, as before, we're dealing with the reality that this isn't going to be a cheap trip. Those in power in X Country take a portion of the cost of the trip, plus direct travel is impossible and in-country transportation is aging and expensive. So here we are, back on the blog, asking if you might consider helping us raise money to travel to X Country this coming spring.
Here's our plan: We've formed Team Hope to run the San Antonio Marathon.
A marathon is 26.2 miles. What if people contributed money (rounded up a touch) towards the cause of sharing Hope? This is what it would take to get both Hayleys to X Country:
- 200 people to donate $1.14/mile - a $30 donation
- 100 people to donate $2.29/mile - a $60 donation
- 50 people to donate $3.44/mile - a $90 donation
- Want to make it really interesting? Agree to double your donation if The Boy can run his marathon in under 3:45 (3 hours and 45 minutes) and/or if I can run my marathon under 5:15 (5 hours and 15 minutes)...over 45 minutes faster than I ran the Big D Marathon.
Any extra money that we raise will allow us to purchase simple medical supplies (think BandAids and aspirin) to carry in that are much needed by local families. We'll soon have our donation page set up - all gifts are tax deductible.
Are you interested in being a part of Team Hope? Let us know in the comments and we'll be in touch to share full details!
I think I might be able to scratch up some spare change to toss in the jar.
ReplyDeleteYAY!
ReplyDeleteThis week has taught us that we really need to work on language skills. :|
I'll give a little ... send details. And, I'll take the Double Down challenge. X2 if either you OR Kelly run or beat the times you listed. X4 if you BOTH do.
ReplyDeleteIs that Team Hope, or Team Hope I Don't Break Down?
ReplyDeleteNow that just made me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteAs they say: Well played, sir. Well played.
