A reminder of what Carter delivered to our house on April 17th:
I'd asked for your input in color selection. By an overwhelming margin, the vote was for traditional color combinations. So I opted for Glidden paint in an eggshell finish - Bittersweet Chocolate for the exterior and Haystack.
Here's the finished display cabinet:
Isn't she gorgeous? The light yellow really makes the recessed shelves pop out - important since there aren't lights in the unit (too much of a hassle for something I'd not really use) and the unit lives on our upstairs landing where lighting can be a challenge:
I really love the contrast of the rich, dark brown with the light and creamy yellow. I've noticed that the appearance of the interior color varies significantly throughout the day as the light quality changes.
You'll notice I painted the face of each shelving section brown. I think the contrast really helps define each display space and adds to the overall character of the piece.
It's gorgeous! I love it. "You dun good".
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I have to confess that simply looking at photos of it makes me ridiculously happy. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks really good. In the photos it looks like you have interior lighting. I like the dark color on the facing, too.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up with my reading tonight. I LOVE THIS! So happy you chose the classic colors.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see it in person, because I suspect the pictures don't do it justice. Besides that, I covet thy nativities! :)
@Melinda - thanks!! And I'll be sure to do a "before and after" count when you come to visit. :) :)
ReplyDeleteThis really is fabulous. Would never have guessed the color would illuminate like that! Back to HGTV for me!
ReplyDelete@CAC - it is amazing how a simple color can do "double duty."
